Detoxification

Detox Rehab for Drug and Alcohol Addictions

Detoxification from alcohol or drugs is the process used by detox rehab centers to help addicted men and women rid their bodies of the substances they have been abusing. Depending up the nature and severity of a person’s substance abuse history, attempting to undergo detoxification for alcohol or drugs without the medical supervision that is available at a detox rehab center can be painful and potentially fatal.

We believe that suffering unnecessary symptoms of withdrawal hinders the recovery process. At Bayside Marin’s detox rehab center our skilled medical team of Addiction Treatment Specialist’s provide a safe and comfortable detoxification from alcohol or drugs using cutting-edge medications and detox protocols.

Detoxification from Alcohol

The purpose of alcohol detoxification is to stabilize the body in the safest and least painful way to prepare the addicted individual to fully participate in their alcoholism treatment program. Attempting to withdraw from alcohol without proper supervision can cause serious health issues. Alcohol detox rehab is not meant to replace treatment for alcoholism, but instead is used as a precursor to help ease an individual into their alcohol rehab program. Alcohol detox rehab is highly recommended for those who have been abusing or become addicted to alcohol.

Drug Detoxification

Drug detoxification is used to help an addicted individual rid his or her body of illicit substances without experiencing dangerous and painful withdrawal symptoms. Drug detoxification may be done naturally or may be done using medications such as methadone, Suboxone, or Vivitrol. Drug detox rehab, like alcohol detox, is not meant to replace drug rehab treatment, but instead to prepare an addicted person for their treatment. Drug detoxification is an important first step in the effort to achieve lifelong recovery.

Detox Rehabilitation Protocols

Detox protocols may include medications such as Buprenorphine and Suboxone, which will be administered by our onsite nursing staff to alleviate the symptoms of withdrawal from drugs such as alcohol, opiates, benzodiazepines (including Xanax and Ativan), cocaine, amphetamine, heroin and others.

Whenever possible, abstinence from all psychoactive drugs is our primary goal. We also endorse the American Society of Addiction Medicine Medication Assisted Treatment philosophy, which recognizes that in certain cases abstinence is not a viable option and that recovery compatible medication assistance will be a component of the client’s recovery plan.
